Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here is a good example of what goes down...

My pencils are loose and a bit messy. I've given up on buyin' some fancy hard pencil or HB. The fact of the matter is, they were all different no matter what they had printed on them. Actually, Joshua Warner turned me on to the Paper-Mate® Sharpwriter® mechanical Twist-Pencil™. No need to sharpen and it has a shock absorbing tip!

I actually ink a lot more that you actually see! Aside from the lines in the socks, I added the hat band and the head of beer, a few details here and there...but, at one point there was smoke coming out of the pipe. It got too messy and was not needed.

While most of you consider me a purist...I do colour with the computer occassionally. I like the solid colours and us a simple drop and fill program. I don't really plan my colours, I just try to match what's in my head. William Messner-Loebs once told me that he feels his illustrations need words to come alive. So, in honor of "Wild" Bill...I had a caption already to go!

Inkstinctually,

B!
